HP’s Atom Netbook, Mini Note 1000

October 30th, 2008 | 8 Comments | Posted in Featured, Netbooks

HP decides to further it’s bid into netbook territority by adding a new member to the Mini Note line, the Mini Note 1000.  Unless it’s Big Brother, the Mininote 2133, the Mini Note 1000 is powered by a Intel Atom processor (N270) and Windows XP and touts a more stylish exterior.

Lighter, thinner and more powerful than the 2133, this could be HP’s winner in the netbook market.

Full Specifications of the Mini Note 1000:

  • Intel Atom 1.6 GHz N270
  • 8.9 and/or 10.2 display screen (1024×600 pixel)
  • 512MB, 1GB or 2GB RAM
  • 8GB/16GB SSD or 60GB HDD
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g
  • 1.3MP webcam
  • Intel GMA950 integrated chip
  • 3-cell battery
  • Windows XP or Linux

The Mini Note 1000 will be available in three models

  • Piano-black
  • Vibrant Red
  • Vivienne Tam Edition

The HP Mini Note 1000 with MIE (Mobile Internet Experience) which runs on Linux and uses a special MIE dashboard to deliver pre-loaded instant messaging, e-mail and Skype to help minimize start times.  Handy and a nice option for non-Windows fans.

Pricing is as follows:

  • HP Mini Note 1000 (w/ XP): $399 (available NOW)
  • HP Mini Note 1000 (w/ Linux): $379 (available in January)
  • Vivienne Tam Edition HP Mini Note 1000: $699  (available in December)

Once I gather enough info, I’ll make another Facts about - post on the Mini Note 1000.

    this is what I’ve been waiting for :D

    do you have any idea as to when will this be released in the philippines?

    the piano black finish looks enticing, but i hate the glare of the glossy screen. and the 80GB HDD just doesn’t cut it.

    i have gone through the HP website and my entire configuration costs $524. most likely that might be around Php27,999 here.

    the Lenovo Ideapad S10 has a better specs, sporting a 160GB HDD at a Php23,999 price point.

    both just have a 3cell battery though, and Lenovo doesn’t have a 6cell option yet.

    @John Ray Cabrera:
    If you’re looking to get the Mini Note, I suggest lurking at PC Corner’s site since they seem to be the fastest one to get new models out into the Philippine Market.

    I’m not sure about pricing though so I suggest to just wait and see before deciding. The bad part about that is some new model might come along and snag your attention.

  4. John Ray Cabrera Says:

    oh yres, and i think pc corner has been my daily pilgrimage while waiting for the 13th month pay to come. :)

    most likely raw, HP will come out by mid-December? is this true?

    @John Ray Cabrera:
    not really sure. Giz and Engadget still hasn’t covered any release date for it.

  6. Derek Says:

    Be careful. There is just one shared audio plug port. Not two, like everyone else. You won’t be using skype to make phone calls and be able to use a headset and mic at the same time.

  7. sylv3rblade Says:

    @Derek
    thanks for the heads up.. hmm
    shared? How do you chose what function the plug is using?
