Dell’s UMPC bets: Dell-E and E-Slim
Dell is set to enter the UMPC market with a bang. Instead of going for the cheapest or the slimmest notebook, they’re aiming to get both titles under their belts.
Meet the Dell E and the Dell E-Slim. Specs are posted below, note that these are not final until the release dates have proven them. Same goes for the price. It’s a Dell so it’s supposed to be expensive right? Well, surprise surprise. The Dell E starts at $299.00.

Cheap for their specs? Yep. And there’s more. These unit are expected to be just between 21 to 24mm (or less than an inch) thick. How’s that for a UMPC? It’s well equipped to keep you connected as the E-series carries standard WiFi, Bluetooth, WiMax and WWAN technologies. At 4 hours minimum battery life, it well exceeds the current market leader, Asus’ EEE but as with most promises, seeing is believing.
Delivery date is expected to be in August for the E series and the next versions next year. When it hits the market, it’ll go head to head with the MSI Wind U100 and HP’s 2133.
