Spinpoint M6; a 500GB wonder
Standing at just 9.5mm, Samsung’s Spinpoint M6 hard drive may be slim but it packs an astounding 500 GB capacity. Another world first from the Korean Electronics Giant.
Official specs for this small wonder are as follows:
- 500 GB
- 5400 rpm
- 8MB cache
- 3.0Gbps SATA interface
The new Spinpoint drive is small enough to easily fit most existing laptop hard drive bays as well as 2.5 hard drive enclosures (SATA ones obviously) which makes it really appealing to storage buffs like myself ^^. If you’re worried about the safety of your data, a Free-Fall Sensor can be added as an optional extra (and extra cost).
The M6 doesn’t break any records (other than being the first of it’s range) but it’s definitely caught my eye. Just think of the amount of media (video, audio, etc) you can bring along if you have this in your pocket.
